About Kreed

blogger-image-1757383678.jpg
Kreed was 18 years old and was nonverbal- meaning he could not use his natural voice to speak. Kreed was diagnosed with autism as well as a number of medical issues: hypothyroidism, epilepsy, SCAD (metabolic disorder), Adrenal Insufficiency (his adrenal system does not work and produce cortisol), CVID- an immune deficiency, POTS/Dysautonomia, hypercapnia, central sleep apnea and severe peripheral neuropathy. He also suffers from a number of food intolerance's which renders him gluten, soy, dairy free, as well as other foods.
In the end they figured out he has a mutation with the MTHFD1 gene that caused all of these issues.

Kreed passed away from this condition (respiratory failure caused by the nerve damage) on May 12th, 2016 After a several months battle. For more info check out this blog: http://kreedsworld.blogspot.com/2016/08/it-took-three-months-to-finally-tell.html

Growing up Kreed had many severe behaviors and most did not know how to help him. As he got older, his behaviors became more pronounced and he was unable to even really go to stores or anywhere else. He could barely ride in a car without a massive car seat to keep him in his seat. He would hit, kick, spit, throw anything in sight, drop to the floor and refuse to move and pretty much anything else you could think of. He did not communicate as well. He had a device for many years but no one knew how to use it and did not use it during therapy.

What no one realized was he was communicating through all those behaviors.

These days Kreed finally found the right people to enter his life and he communicates using a Dynavox T10 with Compass and most of his behaviors were able to get under control. Kreed rarely did anything to be “bad” and tried very hard in all things. We were only just beginning to understand what Kreed has known through the years before he died. Especially with his medical conditions. It took a lot of love and dedication and persistence to get Kreed to communicate and a never say “can’t” attitude. He had also had many devastating health setbacks outside of autism and not being able to communicate.

We will always be grateful that Kreed was able to communicate before he passed away. That we fought for him to have his own voice, right up until the very end.

This is where we post our thoughts on autism in general and his many inspiring stories. And now we write about our grief and in particular what it’s like losing a child with special needs that our life revolves around. Kreed has taught me more about autism and communication than any textbook or lecture. I hope he will continue to teach others as he has taught me through this blog and his facebook and other social media. He has touched my heart in a million ways.

    1. NechO II I am very much hurt by your comments. If you have nothing nice to say then please don't post it here. Do you really understand how difficult it is to raise a son or daughter with Autism and other medical conditions? Do you realize that just because you can't speak does not mean you can't express yourself in other ways. People like Kreed are very smart and they express themselves in other ways.

I really was hurt by your "Greedy Kreedy" comment there was no basis for it and you very well know what you are saying and it does hurt people when they read such comments. Please think before your comment.

  10. Your blog has such a profound effect on me. All of your posts are very meaningful as you tell it like it is and give us so much insight to Autism as well as other medical conditions. Being non-verbal does not mean the person has nothing to say its just like being blind and needing to use a Braille Note to be able to read. Non-verbal individuals have so much potential and I hope one day Kreed will be able to share his thoughts on the blog, via YouTube and Social Media.

I am very much hurt by Necho II's hurtful comments. Sadly there are people who like to tease people with special-needs. They really don't have a heart to write such hurtful comments. I feel so sorry for those who have been hurt by other people by their words or actions and I do my best to advocate for individuals with special-needs. I think people like Necho need to volunteer working with individuals with special-needs to see how hard it is in the day-to-day living. So I hope you are able to remove the hurtful comments by Necho.

The world is so blessed to have people like Kreed and you to show the world that we are not all alike. We all have our strengths and weaknesses but still we are able to function and show the world what potentials we really have. I admire people like yourself who take the time out of their busy schedule to write such heartfelt blog posts. Your blog is one of my number blogs on my RSS feed!!!

Keep up the good work and wishing you all the best of health and prosperity for the years to come. Have a Happy Holiday Season!!!!

  11. I am so glad you are doing this I am following you on YouTube. It took me a long time to get to the point where I can type. So I understand. I use an app called, Proloqro2Go. This way I can program it mysel. I am deaf, blind autistic. I can see and hear a little. But my hearing is worse than my sight. I like seeing someone who is autistic like me. And my fiancé is ported Like you. I am hoping to get the t 10. It will be easier than the device that I have. I use my iPad and a dynaVox. Than you so much for putting Kereed's word up. Please forgive my spelling. I suck at it.

  14. I have just stumbled upon your story. I have a child who was born 25wks gestation weighing 1 Lb 3 Oz, 12 In long. I was so shocked to see another child act just like mine, with the biting n such. I have shown ppl he uses some objects to try n communicate but not one service has helped find a device to help him talk. I am unsure how to do so even though I constantly beg for them. My heart is filled with joy for you as I know the love such a child can bring, and I pray for you to have a quiet place to breathe n balance yourself as I know how important it is when you put on so many hats during all this. Remember God will not give you more than you can handle, so he thought you were one awesome mom to send this angel to you.

  15. When I read your Blog Posts you strike so many emotions and Kreed will always have a special place on this planet. He has inspired me to love the outdoors and in his honor I will hike Doe Mountain as I promised myself to do and will never forget his love of Snoopy standing there in front of Snoopy Rock remembering Kreed and thanking him for all he has done for the world(many tears will be shed).

Kreed brought a smile and taught me what it means to love one another and to share precious moments with the people who mean the world to you. These past six months I have often thought about how he has made this world such an awesome place. Live life to the fullest without any limits or boundaries.

Thank you for continuing to post Blogs while some people may not agree with your views I have found such a special place on Social Media Kreed's World that I hope will continue to inspire people for generations to come.

To me its not about my views its about your views and I agree with you and respect you and I accept you for who you are and for teaching the world what it means to accept people even if there are challenges that we can work on to overcome.

I sit here rewatching the YouTube Videos, reading your Facebook Page and Blogs as they bring me so much inspiration. Kreed will continue to teach the world. Kreed was such a kind and loving person who knew how to care about others sharing his experiences and his love for the outdoors.

I am here for your family during this hard period. You have a large online community who is supporting you like myself. Please continue to write your Blogs as I will be one of your loyal fans!!!!!
